This May Day we are continuing to build our strength, our power and our momentum to win against this authoritarian regime, because when the billionaires break every rule, it’s going to take more than a just rally to stop them.
Our May Day Demands:
Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes, come first.
NO ICE, NO WAR, NO PRIVATE ARMY serving unchecked federal power.
Expand democracy, not corporate power.
Hands off our vote!!!
Together we will be flexing our collective muscle in a tremendous day of power - showing our unity through a day of marches, rallies, and actions including, No Work, (please do not risk your job), No School, No Shopping (stock up on essentials beforehand).
Instead of shopping on May Day, let us make it a Day of Giving to our Immigrant Community.
This May Day, we’re collecting high-impact donations for https://www.hagamosvaca.org/ to support newly arrived families right here in our community. Because we don’t have warehouse space, we’re focusing on items that can go directly into people’s hands—no storage, no delay. That means gift cards (including gas cards) for immediate needs, lightly used tech for school and job access, and small, essential items that help families get on their feet quickly. Every contribution is practical, intentional, and immediately useful—because when families arrive, they can’t wait.
Short, Categorized List: 💳 Gift Cards (highest need): Walmart, grocery stores Gas cards Visa/Mastercard prepaid cards
💻 Technology: Working laptops and tablets with chargers
🧼 Hygiene Kits (assembled if possible): Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors Period supplies (pads/tampons)
🎒 Kids & School: Backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, kids books
🧦 Clothing (new or like-new only): Socks, underwear (new only), light jackets/hoodies, kids clothing
🏠 Small Household Essentials: Twin sheets, blankets, towels, shower curtains/rings, basic cookware
🧸 Comfort Items (for kids): Stuffed animals (new), small toys, coloring books, crayons
🚫 Please no: Canned food, bulk items, large furniture, heavily used clothing
Join us at 6:00PM at the Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, located at 5201 Monticello Avenue, with you signs and a chair and beverage, if needed, as together we celebrate May 1st through action and community.
