“NOVEMBER MIDTERMS”
3 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS WILL BE ON THE BALLOT … VOTE YES X 3 !
The questions deal with reproductive freedom, marriage and voting rights for people convicted of felonies. All three will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot.
The first question would add a fundamental right to reproductive freedom to the Virginia Constitution. It would protect decisions involving prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, abortion, miscarriage management and fertility care. The amendment would allow Virginia to regulate abortion during the third trimester but would require exceptions when a physician determines an abortion is needed to protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant woman or when the fetus is not viable. Virginia’s Constitution currently does not explicitly guarantee a right to reproductive freedom.
The second question deals with marriage. Virginia’s Constitution still contains language defining marriage as between one man and one woman, although that provision has not been enforceable since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide in 2015. The amendment would remove that language and establish a right for two adults to marry regardless of sex, gender or race. It would also require Virginia to recognize lawful marriages equally.
The third question would change when people convicted of felonies can vote.
Under the amendment, a person convicted of a felony would be unable to vote while incarcerated but would automatically regain voting rights upon release. It would also establish a fundamental right to vote in Virginia and change the Constitution’s language concerning people who lack the capacity to understand the act of voting.
The current system has already changed this year. A federal court ruled in January that, under the Virginia Readmission Act, people can lose their voting rights only for felony offenses that correspond to felonies recognized at common law in 1870.

On March 3, 2026 the KW Planning Commission recommended approval of a technology ordinance to the Board of Supervisors. The draft in its current form:
Lists data centers first as potential land use.
"The proposed ordinance aims to encourage investment in technology uses, such as data centers, electrical component manufacturing, and energy storage facilities"
Bypasses citizen and future BOS input for large builds along Routes 360 and 30 by using the language of "by rights", which would enable data center builds to occur without additional scrutiny.
"10 acres by-right along specified routes and in industrial zones"*
Provides the path for using water from our rivers and does not mention drawing from our already strained aquifer, which is where King William well water comes from.
"No water from the County's navigable waterways shall be utilized for any technology project unless the applicant demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Planning Director that all other water sources and cooling technologies have been thoroughly explored"
Does not regulate amounts or type of power used.
Only says "mandates underground utilities"
Says nothing about potential contaminants or pollution.
Does not restrict dBC and only references impulsive sound for dBA limits. dBC is the continous sound comes that can come from cooling fans, chillers, and transformers. dBC sounds can often be heard inside nearby homes much easier than dBA.
*the specified routes would include any parcel of land that touches Routes 30 or 360, as well as current industrial zones and any future parcels that get rezoned
In June 2026, a citizen survey was posted on the County website and Facebook page that asked for citizen input on details about technology uses / data centers in King William County. Most of the questions were framed asserting that data centers in our area are inevitable, asking citizens to choose from options such as setbacks and size, without options to say "no thanks" for most questions.
In July 2026, many concerned citizens brought up their concerns about data centers coming to King William at the Board of Supervisors meeting. At the end of the meeting, the BOS stated that they would send the technology ordinance back to the Planning Commission for revision.
There are currently no protections at the state level, and federal protections will end on September 30th. It is up to US to protect our County.

The SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote in federal elections and compel states to search for non‑citizen voters, is being pushed by President Trump as a guarantee of Republican midterm victories, but its passage faces steep Senate hurdles and legal challenges.
Key Points:
The Senate version of the SAVE America Act would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
The bill also mandates photo identification for in‑person and mail‑in voting and requires states to submit voter rolls to the federal government for non‑citizen checks.
The Center for American Progress reports that 146 million American citizens lack a valid passport and 69 million married women lack a birth certificate matching their legal name.
According to Pew Research, 58% of Americans back voter‑ID requirements.
